JOHN KLASEN - "A Bit of This & A Bit of That" John Klasen is the pedal steel player for the West Moreton Country Music Assoc backing band and over the years has played in many rock bands in the fifties and sixties and then progressed to country and pedal steel and lead and sometimes bass and he has been playing music in some form since he was 6 years old as his mother was a violinist in the Amsterdam orchestra and a music teacher and his father played several instruments fairly well before immigrating to Australia in 1950. John has done quite a bit of recording for other people and now that he has a bit more time on his hands he decided to make some CDs of his own as he have written quite a bit of material and decided that money NOT being the reason for doing it he would donate ALL the proceeds of the CDs to YOUNGCARE. YOUNG CARE is an organization doing splendid work building accommodation for young high care needs people that would otherwise spend their days languishing in old aged care facilities. We have people as young as 10 and 14 years old in those sorts of facilities and this organization is putting their money into bricks and mortar to make it happen. The songs, "A Bushmans Christmas Eve", "Computer Blues", "Little Green Men From Dugandan", "The Old Bush Hall" & "What Did We Do?" were composed & written over a period of time, some written toungue in cheek, as with "Little Green Men", a comical look at the SETI (Search For Extra Terestial Inteligence) boys in Boonah with their Dish Antenna, and "Computer Blues" playing with a computer when you haven't got a clue as to what your doing and the wife suggesting "The Trading Post" was a good place for it. The others are a bit more serious about life in the bush like "A Bushmans Christmas Eve" and "The Old Bush Hall". "What Did We Do?" was written after the Kyoto Conference with politicians talking but doing nothing as usual. The rest of the 12 track CD is made up of old Country favourites. CD's are available at West Moreton CMA Monthly Socials or contact John on (07) 3201 0209 All the Proceeds of the Sale of this CD go to "YOUNG CARE" www.youngcare.com.au |
