Because London has become a disease of sorrowful memories and bad influences, Fidget and his family leave England and Europe for good. They start a new life in a place called the New World (a.k.a. America). Unlike the socialist politics of England, Fidget and his family discover that anyone, regardless of race, gender, species, or background, can progress in life as long as they have the drive and ambition to do so. And all would be happy and content if the past demons wouldn't rear their ugly heads. For even a land of opportunity can be a birthplace for trouble. The Fidget Descendants is the second generation of pastiche bats. Some are Fidget's grandchildren, while others, though not related, are parallels. Jeanette marries a New Yorkan machinist and begins her American career as a journalist. She is the main narrator of the stories (titled "The Holloway Diaries").
