Keara O'Reilly

Updated October 10, 2006

Keara O'Reilly is the youngest child of Fenris and Sharon O'Reilly and the busiest in the family. She is often seen engaged in tedious work, such as carrying potatoes from human-sized baskets or fetching milk from human-sized buckets. It is work that Keara detests the most, but she is the only one who can do it without being seen by the humans, unlike her brother, William, who is too bumbling and easily messes things up.

Keara was born and raised in the high roof of a human barn. Because of her brothers irresponsibility, she was the one who helped her parents take care of cleaning the house and cooking the meals. Neither house work nor cooking ever bothered Keara, but when she was sent to fetch milk, carrots, or potatoes, it was a hassle. She began this task at the age of thirteen (at first with the assistance of her parents and brother). They would get up just before sunset, creep into the human house, and gather the food they needed while avoiding the risk of being seen. When Keara turned sixteen, she did this task on her own. When fetching milk, she brought her little bucket to scoop milk from the human-size bucket right after the farmer milked the cows. When getting potatoes or any other vegetables, Keara crept into the barn at night with her wagon, climbed up to the baskets, tied a rope around a vegetable, and slowly lower it to her wagon to be carried away. (Of course, she could only pull one vegetable at a time and one was big enough to feed a family). Although she had a few close calls in which she was almost discovered by the humans, Keara always managed to make it back safely.

Aside from doing housework and gathering food, Keara is often seen with her nose in storybooks. She is very fond of fairy tales and adventure stories and has a tendency to act on them out as a means for entertainment. Keara is also good at making up her own stories. She uses her tedious tasks in fetching food for the family and turns them into adventure stories. Keara is most notable for this when she tells those stories to her cousin Fidget.

Keara is a hardworking young lady with the heart of an imaginative child. It is absolutely no wonder that Fidget enjoys her company.

Birth name: Adair Kerwin Fitzpatrick Relation/Connection: Fidgets cousin; Alastairs son Born: June 10, 1872 in Dublin, Ireland Occupation(s): Psychology scholar Marital status: Single Astrological signs: Gemini Famous motto: N/A Whereabouts: Residing with his parents and sister Based on: The Irish family culture Character model(s): Michael Stoltenberg Character designer: Leila Acevedo (a.k.a. Reyelene) Character voice: Looking for a free-spirited & carefree male Irish voice

Adair Fitzpatrick is the eldest son of Alastair and Fiona Fitzpatrick and the kind of bat who doesnt believe in taking things too seriously. He loves to joke around (which often irritates his little sister, Edana) and spend time with his friends at the tavern, especially when it comes to hearing the tall-tales of his grandfather, Seamus OReilly. Adair also enjoys indulging in the sciences (particularly psychology) and studies psychology at a college of sciences. He is a rational thinker (unlike his sister) and definitely not ashamed of it, despite any ridicule or anger by less than rational mice.

Ever since he was eight years old, Adair was already a responsible kid. He helped keep house, watched over little Edana, and assisted his parents with chores. Surprisingly, all that responsibility didnt bother him at all. He didnt sulk at the idea of doing chores unlike most children his age, nor did he complain about the thought of looking after his sister. In fact, Adair found it fun to watch Edana as he loved to tease her and tickle her ribs (knowing that it made her mad). When Adair reached adolescence, he took quite a fancy to learning about great philosophers like Socrates and Aristotle and great scientists and mathematicians like Archimedes and Pythagorus. He liked learning about them so much that he wanted to be like them. This was an early spark to his interest in psychology, a fairly new discipline in the late 19th century. During his teenage years, Adair Fitzpatrick was almost as greatly admired as Seamus O'Reilly. Many of his friends admired him for his ideals and enjoyed spending time with him for a drink and small talk. Of course, not everyone shared his ideals nor did they respect him for it. Many folks his age (mainly mice) considered Adair a great nuisance and a blasphemer. Some even confronted him on the issue, but Adair always knew that the battle could be won with reasoning. Many gave up, embarrassed and furious that they couldnt break down a thinking man like Adair. Others however, began forming plans to ruin him. Even when these plans were applied, Adair still managed to win.

Adair is now a psychology scholar at a local college of sciences in Dublin. He still likes to join his friends at the tavern for drink and small talk. Even his cousin, Fidget, had joined him a couple of times for the very same.

"Hear my voice!"

Edana Fitzpatrick is the daughter of Alastair and Fiona Fitzpatrick and the brainiest woman of the lot. Like Linda Pirone is to the Boitanos, Edana loves books, learning, and organization, but has a tendency to be snooty to those around her (mostly men) and obsessed with tidiness. Edana is a hard woman to humor (as quoted by her elder brother Adair) and such a workaholic that she often forgets the meaning of the word fun. But when times get very emotional and frightful for her, Edana becomes very humble and realizes the error of her ways, making her penitence very real.

For the longest time, Edanas parents couldnt figure out her behavior. During her childhood, she often withdrew to her bedroom to read her books and expressed very irritable behavior when her mother knocked on the door to see how she was doing or when she was told to stop reading. She also had the habit of bringing a book to read while she sat down to eat dinner (You either read or eat, not both, her father often told her). When in school, Edana was often seen raising her hand when the teacher asked questions on a subject (she always knew the answers). Edana was a straight A student and was extremely proud of her accomplishments. However, her pride was perceived by most of her fellow students as belittling as Edana got a swelled head from time to time. She found exams enjoyable whereas most students found them frightful. Being volunteered to read a verse from a book pleased Edana while it made other students uncomfortable. But what made others students most uncomfortable about her smarts is the fact that she was a bat and it didnt settle well with Irish mice when a bat appeared smarter than they did. However, Edanas know-it-all proved to be a curse in other areas. If things dont meet her expectations, Edana gets very upset which makes her more irritable and she doesnt know how to cope well with errors. If she received less than one hundred percent on an exam, it was the end of the world. If she faltered in a performance of reading a verse out loud, it was absolutely shameful. But in spite of her faults, Edana had an ambition and determination that was admired by her teachers. This proved to be even more so when she got older and studied photojournalism. From that moment on, Edana knew that she wanted to be a photojournalist.

After she graduated from high school in 1888, she decided to go on to college and pursue further knowledge in photojournalism. Outside of school, Edana worked as a librarian to help with her financial costs. Edana became a very hardworking woman who wanted to be the best photojournalist of all time. This gave her the incentive to do a lot of photo work outside school (and whenever she had any free time from the library). Nevertheless, there was a time when this got her into quite a fix. When a couple of unpleasant characters stole Edana's photo portfolio and showed her photos to the public, couples broke up after seeing a photo of their partner with someone else. Secrets (especially the deepest and darkest of them all) were no longer secret because they were spotted on Edana's photos. Many folk despised Edana because of this, and she found herself in an emotional crisis. However, she was soon about to learn the hard way. One night while Edana was bathing in a pond, someone played a cruel trick on her by taking a picture of her in the nude and presenting it to the townsfolk as a means for revenge. When Edana found out about this, she was devastated and spent days in her bedroom, crying. When she spoke to her parents about what happened, they gave her a heart to heart talk about boundaries. After the talk ended, Edana realized that she had to make amends with the folk she hurt. Eventually, she did.

Although she is not an easy woman to live with, Edana's brains and ambition earn her the admiration, respect, and pride of her family (including her cousin, Fidget).
