Med Force is based in Colona Il. It was established after Air Evac 6 pulled out of the area. The Current Med Force 1 is a BBK EC-135-T2.An earlier Med Force 1 was a Bell 222 helicopter. The crew is paged out on 462.950 by MEDIC EMS. Flightfollowing takes place on 462.950. Try listening to 467.950 if you are not in the Quad-Cities area. Some commuciations is via the RACOM Network. There is a second MEDFORCE Helicopter based at the Great River Medical Center in Burlington. They are dispatched by MEDCOM on 462.95 like MedFORCE 1 and use the RACOM Network for communications at times. |

The University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics leases two small Helicopters. #1 is based in Iowa City and #2 is at Covenant Hospital in Waterloo. Uses local public safety channels to communicate with on scene agencies. At left are the most recent ones Aircare has used in this area. There are also 14 ground units. Crew is paged out on 155.205. 463.075 is used in the simplex mode from air to ground, it is also used for crew alerting at AIRCARE base in Iowa City. A Press release from May 2002 states that dispatch duties are now from LifeCom in Omaha. RACOM's EDACS TG 14-142 has been heard with position reports. |
