Welcome to Mad Max The Cat's Page

This is Max as you can see he looks a little mad. Well, he is, because Mums, that's me, woke him up to take this photo. Max is a 13 year old Orange Tabby. He has always preferred dogs to other cats as his fur-companions. He likes to sleep on a bed by himself but will share if he has to. Now that his first hu-mom has married and moved into a home of her own, Max has a bed to himself when he wishes. Like his friend B.J. The Black Cat, he enjoys the look-out perch in the garage; when B.J. is not around of course. He has occupied my favorite wicker chairs in the past, but most often Max just sleeps in one of Mums Chihuahua's houses(large cage) or in a sunbeam.

Max came to live with us in 1987. I picked him out of a box of kittens outside of Spags - a wharehouse store in Shrewsbury, MA. Rachel, my youngest daughter, asked...begged for us to take one. I caved in and said yes, BUT, I was going to pick which one we took home. I knew she had just lost an Orange Tabby so I picked him and thus the rest of the story.... His first name was Todd. The little boy giving him away along with the rest of the litter, had tears in his eyes when he said good-bye to Todd. His new mom, Rachel, named him Max after the "One Life to Live" character Max on the ABC (USA) soap. She will deny it to this day but we all know it is true!

Max does enjoy his Christmas stocking. Every year he can be found waiting patiently beside the filled stockings on Christmas morning.

Max has followed us back to bed with our stockings every year. He always waits for us to give him the ok to start exploring the contents. His eyes widen, he becomes impatient when he hears paper crinkling and then his head is inside the stocking in a second. He is looking for one thing in particular. CATNIP! Then he crashes out for a nap.

Our nephew Ryan has always loved Max. When he was 2 and 3 years old, Ryan would sneek off and become quiet. I always knew where I'd find him.

Now here are a couple of photos of Max in his true MAD state. He has the most malicious expressions. He really is a sweet thing...honest... well, he just hates to be bothered when he is sleeping. Which is all the time!

On a hot summer morning in 2004 Max then 17 crossed the bridge. His ashes are with us now in a garden rock urn. The inscription reads:
