The College Football Page
Covering the wild and wooly world of Ivy and Div I-AA football.

My Penn Quakers could not repeat as champions, finishing a disappointing 4th. Brown & Yale surprised with identical 6-1 Ivies, 9-1 overall records to share the title. Penn had an explosive offense, led by rb Kris Ryan [led ivies in rushing, only a soph!] and qb Gavin Hoffman, and a decent defense but never really got it all together. Keep up with Penn Athletics with the dp.

Wow, Bobby Bowden, I don't think, cannot be more pleased -- he'll get a second chance in two years to capture the mythical #1 crown. Remember the 'nole failed against the Vols last year.

Brings me to this whole BCS thing... I don't like it. But not for the reason most people hate it. I actually think it ranks the teams well enough but I like the old system where you really need to be perfect for the whole season to be the #1. I like the new system where the rankings are weighted with strength of shedule and stuff, but DO NOT expand it to a playoff. College football is unique in that a game in September counts just as much as a bowl game. Don't change it.

The USA Today's main page is the best source for college football news. USA Today has MUCH more on the smaller colleges than ESPN's college football page. Look in USA Today's conference index page, or go directly to the Ivy page or the Penn page. Get the latest scores and polls. Check out ESPN's Ivy standings page and the top 25 scoreboard. From here, you can easily find the latest Ivy scoreboard.

The latest Division I-AA poll by the Sports Network. Patrick Dunn seems to have retired, so check out my neighbour Eric Gemunder's newsletter on Division I-AA football. His homepage is on geocities as well. Back copies are available upon request. The excellent rec.sport.football.college home page has many links and info. It is maintained by David Wilson. Drop him a line. If you have Usenet access, read and contribute to r.s.f.c.

Recruiting: Couch Sports tracks recruiting info. You may submit your info there for Recruiting Coordinators or Coaches to see as well.

Stats galore: ESPN's, and USA Today's. Darryl E. Marsee's scoreboard has the whole season's schedule and results by date. Check out his main football page as well.

Misc: Division II and below news. Jeff Sagarin's rankings.

Gambling: Are you a betting man? Here's where to get the latest college football odds: from TSN, or the Sports Authority. Here are two guys' picks: the Swami, Trey Jager. Please use care when betting and don't lose your shirt!

Misc: Some professional NFL links: Monday Night Football's news page, espn's football, nfl.com.
