Prophecy Series- Message #16

Wars and Rumors of Wars

Red Horse of the Apocalypse

Rise of the Antichrist

The prophecies of God reveal a clear picture and outline of some major events leading up to the Rapture of the Church. The Book of Isaiah, for example, contains a series of "pre- tribulation wars" that will soon occur prior to or near the beginning of the Tribulation. Skirmishes in Egypt and Syria fill the daily world news with the message of war and unrest. I believe that the Word of God reveals to serious seekers of Truth that current events are preparing the world for the rise of Antichrist. This message will seek to clarify that.

Whether we believe that the Antichrist will arise out of the European Union, or, if he comes from another part of the "Old Roman Empire" as suggested by scripture; whether he is the last Pope or the Amam Mahdi, it may soon be less vague as to where EXACTLY the antichrist will come from. In the Bible he is called the "Prince of Tyre" and "the Assyrian" (Micah, Isaiah, Ezekiel), and we are given some light as to his arrival in the Book of Daniel, particularly Chapters 11-12.

As we look at the current situation in the Middle East and review the transformation it has made since Israel was re-established in 1948, the foundation for the arrival of the "man of sin", the "son of perdition", known as the antichrist appears to be in place. We are reminded:

"Let no man deceive you by any means; for that day (Day of the Lord, the Tribulation) shall not come except there come a falling away first (spiritual apostasy) , and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition." (2 Thess. 2:3) "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets." (Amos3:7) It is my profound belief, shared by other students of God's Word of Prophecy, that He, Almighty God, the Revealer of All Things is about to give us further enlightenment concerning: 1) The rise of the "Abominable ruler", the antichrist 2) His being revealed to Christians who are watching 3) The identities of the nations who God has named "the King of the North" (Syria) and "the King of the South" (Egypt) and their relevance to the current world chaos 4) Further fulfillment of the monumental prophecies of Daniel 11-12 5) Preparing Christians for the rapture prior to the "Day of the Lord"(the Tribulation).

The Wars and Rumors of Wars which have spoiled so much of the Middle East will result in a world ripe for the Antichrist. He is no doubt on the world scene now.

We should keep in mind that those who study his word and ask for understanding may well be able to recognize the Antichrist on the world scene before the rapture occurs, because God has described in great detail this "man of sin". He exhorts us to "study and watch" the events of the end time.

A review of the preceding Chapters 9-10 of the Book of Daniel explains that the prophecies concern a vision for his people (Israel) in the last days.

In the first portion of the 11th Chapter of Daniel we see that God uses what is referred to as a "duel prophecy". In other words some prophecies have more than one meaning. While history has proved that Egypt and Syria have had their skirmishes, it is clear that they will also play a keen role in the "end time". For example, verses 7-21 speaks of the rise of "an abominable ruler", a "vile person" which in history was met by Antiochus Epithanes, a TYPE of antichrist, perhaps a prototype of the end time "man of sin".

As we progress to the actual scriptures beginning with v. 23 in the 11th Chapter of Daniel we find that the antichrist will rise deceitfully and become strong with a small people (is this reference to the "little horn" out of the area given to Seleucid and, perhaps, the new Palestinian State?)

Antichrist will "scatter (divide) the land for gain" and "divides the wealth" with his followers. I contend this dividing of land is a reference to the "peace covenant" which he will deceitfully confirm to the nations of the world. I believe that this act will bring on the antichrist's appearance on the world scene. Shortly thereafter the following scripture gives us a warning of that which is to come, for the negotiations for peace were bogus:

"For when they shall say, Peace and Safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape". (1 Thess. 5:3)

Further along in Daniel we see that the antichrist will also "forecast devices" (perhaps the thousands of rockets and missiles that have been gathered for many years in Muslim held areas of the Middle East to be launched on Israel "at a time of unwalled villages" (peace). This will go on for one "time" (year, in prophecy). (v. 24)

The antichrist will stir up his power against the "King of the South" (Egypt) with many being killed (v. 25.) We can see this enmity growing right now between the Muslim Brotherhood and the Egyptian military. Egypt is the only great nation that has shown that it can exist with Israel (i.e. the first peace treaty at Camp David). Egypt is essentially at war with radical Islam which includes the Muslim brotherhood within the country. Remember, too, that Egypt, Syria and Saudi Arabia (Sheba and Dedan) are not mentioned as part of the Russian/Islamic Invasion on Israel (Ezk. 37- 38). The Russian /Islamic invasion and the 100,000,000 man army from China appear AFTER the antichrist goes forth to destroy Israel and to do away with many. These wars appear to occur at the middle of the Tribulation and continue to gather the nations for the final battle with Satan and His cohorts being destroyed by the brightness of His (Jesus Christ) Coming at the battle of Armageddon. It is clear that Tribulation wars and rumors of wars will begin "as travail upon a woman with child" and continue to increase in intensity. I believe that we are at that stage in the affairs of man...right now!!!

The next verse reveals that both the King of the South (Egypt) and the King of the North (Syria, antichrist) will do mischief and deceit toward each other "at one table" "for yet the end shall be at the appointed time." (v. 27)

Verse 28 suggests that the heart of the antichrist is against Israel and the covenant (peace treaty) and will divide the wealth. Although some would argue that this was fulfilled in 169 B.C. by the antichrist type, Antiochus Epithanes scripture does not preclude a double meaning to the text. This is confirmed by the next verses in which switches undeniably to the "end times" and the character of the antichrist. (v.35)

"Even to the time of the end",and,""at the appointed time" (v.35)

The antichrist will claim deity (v. 37)and He will honor the God of forces (v. 38). The "end time" is again in context as the antichrist will exalt himself and magnifiy himself above all gods and claim that he is God. This is a reference to the "Abomination of Desolation" spoken of by Daniel which the antichrist will set up at the midpoint of the tribulation. (also refer to 2 Thess. 2:4)

The antichrist will not regard the God of His Fathers (v. 39),and,the antichrist will""divide the land for gain".

This brings us to the current peace initiative (a revival of the Camp David Accords). Attempts are being made, at least by Israel, to reconcile the age old problem that has caused the "perpetual hatred" to exist between the descendants of Ismael and Jacob concerning the Abrahamic Covenant and land dispute.

Persia and the false prophets of Islam are ready to give power and authority to the Mahdi (the Muslim counter to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ). They will find power and authority from Muslim leaders in the form of the masses of fanatical blood thirsty children of Satan who are bent on bringing about world domination by any means possible. Whether terror is in the form of human bombs, swords of the masses, the chemical weapons in Syria or the nuclear weapons that now are in the sites of Iran (Persia) this world is "waxing worse and worse" as we approach the Tribulation. Chemical and biological weapons are now apparently entering into the mix. In the eyes of radical Islam it will be all for the glory of Allah (A false God).

For more of God's Word concerning the specific wars leading up to, and, in the early part of the tribulation please refer to Message #14: "Dukes of Edom: Fate of the Palestinians".

Chapter 12 of the Book of Daniel may be one of the most profound prophesies found in God's Holy Bible. In context of the "last days" Michael the Archangel, God's war angel will "stand for the children of Israel". Although the rest of the world will abandon Israel, including the US, God will not! It is important, I think, to grasp the importance of this moment as this is the beginning of the Tribulation which God's prophets referred to as "A time of Jacob's trouble".

There will be some who understand."(v. 3)

"But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."(v.4)

The time frame spoken of again is very clear: "the time of the end" when knowledge will be increased (computers, rapid rate of escalating technology, etc.), but even more so as God reveals prophetic knowledge like he said that he would. It is alsovery easy to see that our society is meeting the stipulation of "running to and fro". Just look around us.

Daniel was then asked "how long will it be until this comes to pass?" "And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?"(v. 8)

"And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end."(v.9)

"Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: but none of the wicked will understand."(v.10)

"And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days." (v.11)

This refers to the last days before Christ's Second Coming WITH His saints.

"Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days". (v.12)

"But go thou thy way till the end be: for thou shalt rest, and stand in thy lot at the end of the days."(v.13)

The stage is now set for the revealing of the antichrist. God will make it clear to us, in His own time concerning the exact timing of things. Let us remember that Jesus commanded us to "watch" as these things draw near.

"So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors." (Matthew 24:33)

The revealing of the antichrist appears to precede the rapture of the church to be followed by the tribulation. Christ's Second Coming (the Advent) and the Millennial Kingdom of God follow the tribulation and then those who have accepted the provisions of salvation by the blood of Jesus Christ will enter into Eternity with Jesus Christ.

We know the fate of Antichrist and the False Prophet as revealed in Thess. 2:8. It will be swift and final by the divine power of God: "And the Lord Jesus will slay him by the breath of His mouth and destroy him by the brightness of His coming." (Thess. 2:8)

"And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone." (Rev. 19:19-20)

The Antichrist will be cast into the lake of

fire along with the false

prophet
