Re-establishment of Israel as a Nation

Temple Prophecy Fulfilled

In what is commonly known as the Olivet Discourse Jesus answered the passionate question posed by His disciples concerning the time of his return and signs that would precede His Coming again.

"And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. And Jesus said unto them, "See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" ( Matt 24:1-3)

Jesus spoke this prophecy that was to shortly come to pass. He said He would be leaving to go to another place (heaven) to prepare a house for those that are His. Of course, Jesus knew that He would be crucified so He comforted His followers with the discourse that would set forth a number of signs that would occur prior to His return. In the first verse Jesus laid down the first prophetic stipulation of this prophecy by foretelling the destruction of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. This prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD when the Roman emperor Titus caused the literal destruction of the temple and dispersion of the Jews from their land. The Ark of the Covenant, the Menorah and the other paraphernalia used in Jewish religious rituals were confiscated by the roman army and hauled away to eventually dwell among the vast number of vaults that exist below the Vatican in Rome.

Destruction of the Jewish Temple 70 AD

The destruction of the Jewish temple was literally fulfilled as the stones that made up its foundation and walls would be carried away over the next centuries by scavengers to build their own dwellings. The conversation between Jesus and His disciples then turns to a list of political world conditions and events that would come to pass before the end of the world (Age) and the timing of His Coming again. Here it is important to realize that in verse 34 Jesus states: "Verily I say unto you This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled". All these things (the signs that He has just related to the prophets) would come to pass in ONE GENERATION and then the Son of Man would return. Among the signs that would occur in the last generation would be the re-establishment of Israel as a nation. Thus, it is the conclusion of many Christians of Bible Prophecy that the re-establishment of Israel in May 14, 1948 began the last generation of this age.

Fig Tree Parable

The following words of Jesus Christ refer to the nation of Israel (the fig tree). In 1948 Israel was re-established as a nation that had been scattered for 2000 years dispersed to nations all over the world. Today it is still a young nation in the modern world. The regathering of Israel continues today. Numerous Christian and Zionist groups are aiding the bringing of God's Chosen people back to Israel. It is indeed a modern day miracle right before our eyes.

"Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things (all the signs Jesus has just mentioned to His disciples), know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things (all these signs including the re-establishment of Israel as a nation)be fulfilled. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." (reference to the rapture) (Matt. 24:32-40)

The rapture of God's church to meet Jesus in the air

In the previous verses future enlightenment is given to the condition of mankind when the rapture will occur. As we know from the book of Genesis the condition of a fallen mankind had reached to itís lowest form with sin marking every aspect of life. It would be well for us to reflect on just how the days of Noah were and how we are rapidly approaching a similar condition today.

"And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said,I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them." (Genesis 6:5-7)

A Nation Reborn and The Last Generation

It is very important to see the timing of God's prophecy and understand that ALL of the signs of His coming again which were mentioned by Christ would have to come to pass during one generation. (Matt 24:34) One of the stipulations (signs) was explained by the parable of the fig tree which we have determined refers to the regathering of Israel. The rebirth of Israel in 1948 began the countdown of the history of this age. One generation beginning in 1948 would see the fulfillment of all the signs Christ gave to His disciples, from the reestablishment of Israel as a nation to His Coming again (the Second Advent).

Dry Bones

The valley of dry bones is a prohecy of Israel re-gathering as a nation Ezk.37

The prophet Ezekiel was also given a prophecy concerning the regathering of Israel:

"The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And caused me to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were very many in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord GOD, thou knowest Again he said unto me, Prophesy upon these bones, and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the LORD. Thus saith the Lord GOD unto these bones; Behold, I will cause breath to enter into you, and ye shall live: And I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. So I prophesied as I was commanded: and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above: but there was no breath in them. Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, And shall put my spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the Lord.....Behold, I will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land." Ekz. (37:1-14)

Spiritual Fulfillment

It is in God's plan that He will have mercy on a remnant of Israel that accept Jesus Christ as their Savior during the tribulation. He will heal their nation and extend His relationship with Israel into a period of peace called the Millenium.(please refer to Message #13 "The Millenial Reign of Jesus Christ")

"Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my sanctuary (a reference to the four-square New Jerusalem which will descend from God) in the midst of them for evermore. My tabernacle also shall be with them: yea, I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel, when my sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore." (Ezekiel 36:37-37:28)

New Jerusalem descending to take it's place in the Millennial Kingdom of God

The Grace of His Kingdom

God's Incredible Grace is revealed as He forgives their nation and extends His blessings upon the remnant into The Kingdom of God. (please refer to Message 13:"The Millenial Kingdom of Jesus Christ")

"In that day will I make the governors of Judah like an hearth of fire among the wood, and like a torch of fire in a sheaf; and they shall devour all the people round about, on the right hand and on the left: and Jerusalem shall be inhabited again in her own place, even in Jerusalem . The LORD also shall save the tents of Judah first, that the glory of the house of David and the glory of the inhabitants of Jerusalem do not magnify themselves against Judah. In that day shall the LORD defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and he that is feeble among them at that day shall be as David; and the house of David shall be as God, as the angel of the LORD before them. And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn." (Zech 12:6-10)

Fulfillment of the Covenant

"Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession. Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come. Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel." (Ezk. 11:14-17)

This proclamation leaves little doubt as to the fact that God would return His people Israel that have been scattered and abused among the nations of the world to where they will regain the land that He promised them through His Covenant with Abraham.

Other Signs of Christ's Second Coming

Jesus continues to give His disciples glimpses of other signs which will occur before the end of the age and the fulfillment His covenant with Israel.

"And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake". (Matt. 24: 4-9)

Before the end of this Age and the Establishment of the earthly kingdom of God mankind will endure the tribulation wherein his god-forsaken attempts at "peace and security" have brought him to a final reconciliation with God. (Please refer to Message #11: Daniel's 70th Week - The Tribulation )

"And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." (Matt. 24:10-14)

The gospel of Jesus Christ today is reaching throughout the world and all of the prophecies that Jesus spoke of in the Olivet discourse are rapidly being fulfilled. It is important to realize that the "end" here refers to the Advent of Jesus Christ at the end of the tribulation. The gospel of Jesus Christ will be preached to the whole world by the 144,000 witnesses as well as the two prophets during "The Time of Jacob's Trouble" the Tribulation. The rapture has occurred 7 years prior to (at the beginning of) the Tribulation. (Please refer to Message #12: The Second Coming of Jesus Christ) It is relatively easy to look around us today at the state of this world and see that these conditions are all in place. There is nothing that has to occur prior to the rapture of the church!! The nations are now gathering toward Armageddon and we are beginning to feel the stir of winds from the four corners of the earth where angels will release God's wrath. We should continue to understand that God has complete control of man's affairs and is prepared to accept all who come to Him and this promise is also made to Israel.

Israel's Hope in a Divine Child

The scriptures have shown us that God, indeed, has His hand in the affairs of Israel. It has been His desire to return Israel to their own land politically, physically and even spiritually. Today we find Israel as a viable nation thriving among the nations of the world physically restored with thriving crops and orchards as well as economic and military clout. The Jews continue to regather from the Diaspora to the land that God promised them through His Covenant with Abraham. We also have learned that God has given Israel great Spiritual Hope. This Hope can be found in Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.

The Second Coming of Jesus Christ in the clouds

It is unfortunate that most Israelis today do not recognize Jesus as their Messiah. God has foretold us that only one-third of the regathered nation will accept Jesus as their Messiah and thus enter into the Millenial Kingdom of God. This end-time "remnant" will undergo incredible persecution in the Tribulation, the "Time of Jacob's Trouble." (Please refer to Message #11: Daniel's 70th Week - The Tribulation)
