This holiday marks the mid-point between Winter Solstice/Yule and Spring Equinox/Ostara. It is time for the goddess to start her journey from the underworld, and return to us as a young maiden at Ostara. Imbolc is a candlelightiing celebration, to symbolize the giving of strength to the young Sun God as well as lighting the path for the goddess' return from the dark underworld. This celebration signifies guidance and direction to the young goddess and god as they grow towards puberty.
February 2nd, is also time for Groundhogs' Day, will he see his shadow or not. Only the groundhog knows if spring will be postponed for six more weeks. All may seem dormant, but new life is emerging and growing and you can sense it's presence within your soul. Now is the time to start seedlings indoors and plan your garden. Awaken your outdoor sacred space in honor of the time you will soon spend with nature. Now, to plant my seeds and wait for Mother Nature to weave her magick. As my Garden grows into new life so shall I emerge from my hybernation and return to the light and warmth of the sun and into a new life, a new begining.
