House Wren
Troglodytes aedon
Apperance: 4.25 inches Brownish above and buffy below. A faint eyebrow, and eyering. Sexes Similar. Pink Legs, tail useally held upright.
Voice: Scolding notes as well as a rapid bubbling song
Nesting: Nest is built by male in a cavity, he builds several nests and the female chooses one or none, when she chooses one she adds fine materials. Nest is built out of twigs.
Eggs: white with brown markings, 5-12. Incubation by female for 13 days.
Young: The young fledge in 12-18 days
Feeding: Primarily insects.
Habitat: Thickets, brush and gardens
Range: Southern Canada to Terra Del Fuego. Useally a summer resident.
To Attract: Place up bird houses.
Interesting Fact: House Wrens may kill baby birds and their parents for a nest cavity, also may puncture eggs.
