Jan 13 1998:
I just did my registration on campus today. Whoever said that college are the best years of our lives... vicious liars. I had to wait about 45 minutes in line just to get my bill. We are three mouths to feed in my house (four if you count my 15 year old brother twice) and I only get the minumum from the Pell Grant. For the remaining diference, as Rosie O'Donnel said on the Flinstones "Charge!"$310.00 for a measly 15 credits. The only positive thing of this traumatic ordeal I call C-hell (college hell) is that I got Fridays off. Not for long. With the bills stacking up, I better pull myself off from this computer and go out there and find a job. But that is a different web page.
Jan 20 1998:
As ususal, I got up late on an important day. Today was my first day of class. And it was no exeption to the late-wake-up rule either. I set my alarm for 4:35 AM. When I went to sleep it was on. When I woke up at 6:05 AM it was not. Probable cause: I turned it off in my sleep. I raced to get ready: I got dressed, did my hair and brushed my teeth in less than 20 minutes: a record time for me. I was out the door faster than you can say TACO!!!!! and on my way to campus. Traffic was heavy but tolerable. Lucky for me, no red lights (almost) and I found a parking spot right away. Triumph!!!!
January 29, 1998:
I took my first chemistry lab today, and I have all of my assigned reading on schedule. Tonight I'm going to the welcome back dance, with two of my bestest friends from High School. No quizzes so far... but that will soon change.
February 13, 1998:
Next week is my first semester exam. Chemistry. I am not looking forward to it. On the good side of things, my Math professor is a great teacher. He is not a professor per ce, he is a TA, but he is good: Good Attitude, good explaining, not too good looking, so no he isn't perfect. But I rather have good teacher's who are not that great looking, but explain in a way that I don't have any doubts after class is over. Like my chemistry teacher. He is a blast! He does all of these physical gestures and Real Life examples to help us understand the dificult world of Chemistry, believe me, Chem is difficult. Mainly because there is just one right answer. You can't argue your way into a solution, you have to find it.
March 6, 1998:
Well, I took the test. The class average ws 54. My score was 72. NOT complaining. I'm just gonna do great on the next test, boost my average and there, done. For that, I stay about 1 hour doing practice excercises and reading the Chemistry textbook, every Tuesday and on Thursdays when I can. As for Pre-Calculus, I'm doing all the excersises, so that I will not have to cram right before the exam. I still do not know my grade for the first test, but I hope it will be a good one. Juan Jose, if you read this I'm still sorry about your grade. :,-(. As for my other classes I'm making a research paper on Sexual Harassment on Higher Education Instititions for English, and reading lots of Spanish poems and lit for Spanish.

April 4, 1998:
I got an 82 in my math test, and a 92 in the second one. The second Chem test I got a 67, still a C, I might take QUIM 3002 in the summer to raise the grade. But It's ok. I'm already taking math in the summer so I might as well take chemistry.

June 22, 1998:
I'm taking Math (second part)and Chemistry (I got a C). I got two great professors and so far I'm doing ok. Second time around is much easier. Although I do hate it when the chemistry professor makes an obvious question, which is not that obvious to the people who are taking this class the first time around, and he says:"OK everyone. Now a simple, obvious and trivial question (Looks MY way) Except Ana, what is ....?" But the others need the practice. I'm used to thinking in theory, because of watching so much Star Trek, but most people are not used to that type of thinking. Star Trek does come in handy. ::Smiles::

September 15, 1998:
This semester I'm taking Social Sciences, (kind of a Poli Sci) Humanities, Organic Chemistry and Biology. I did very well during the summer, A in math and a B in chemistry. This semester I'm working off campus to make some extra money. My brother is doing the college thing as well, but his school is right by our house, so he doens't need to drive. Lucky him!

February 4, 1999:
I'm taking genetics, organic chem, social studies and humanities. I have Mondays off this semester which means I get to sleep till noon, just in time to watch Jerry Springer and get a good laugh. Well, so far I'm not behind on too much material, just lots of reading. No tests have been anounced yet, but I'm expecting one any minute now. I did have a genetics quizz, on mitosis and meyosis, I'm gonna retake it. I like genetics because eventhough you get a quizz once a week, you can make it up up to two times and improve your score, which is great cause quiezzes are worth like a full exam.

Today I had my academic evaluation, here is a tentative program of my Fall 1999 schedule, If you really want to see it, highlight it. I made it so that it would come out printed, not for a webpage.

April 29, 1999:
I'm now officially flunking organic chem. I already pre-registered for summer school. I'm not really sure why I haven't dropped the course. I just took a Genetics exam and I hope I aced it. I really really studied for it. I'm doing ok on my required courses. So far so good.
If anyone I know IRL reads this, tell me. But I'm sure no one in my family likes my page enough to look as deep in here.

August 25, 1999:
I took Organic chem during the summer. My conference professor was a blast. So was my Lab TA. I was able to organize my ideas and express them clearly, for which I got a B. Preatty cool, huh? As for this semester, So far so good. I'm staying at the library Tuesdays through Thursdays till 9:30 PM to study with a bunch of friends. It's preatty nice. I don't have the distractions of my room, like the TV, the computer, internet, ect ect ect. So far all of my professors are male, not a single female. I only have one TA left to meet, my zoology lab TA. If he/she is a he, then this will be the first time in my life that all of my professors are male. That will be a new experience!

October 7, 1999:
First semester with all male professors. I like most of them. Not all, just most. My classes are ok, this has not been the best semester of my academic carreer. But I'm making the best of it. Nothing much to report here, so check back soon!

February 2, 2000
Y2K Over!!! That's a blessing. It didn't seem to affect stuff at my school, lines are still long as ever everywhere: registration, food places, parking. I'm taking Physics, Personal defense and a seminar on Bioethics. I'm also working at the Herptology lab, where I work with native puertorrican amphibians and reptiles. Preatty neat stuff! I did ok last semester, could've been better, it can always be better.
