My Projects

To be perfectly honest with you, I have had only two major game programming projects so far. One is part of a tutorial and the other is one that I am currently working on. The former is not worth mentioning (mostly because it sucks) and the latter is not yet finished.

Rylith's Quest

(Gimme a brake, it's a working title) This is a side-scroller action game. I started to write the code for it in C but soon I began to learn C++ and saw that C++ was much better. I had written the foundation code for the game in C but now I must change it to object oriented C++. I hope to have this finished soon and start on the fine details of the game engine. I have already figured out most of the algorithms that will be used in the game. Now I must translate them to the actual code.

As for the media aspect of the game, I have drawn the frames of the hero running and I have also drawn a few tiles that will make up the game's environment. I have a few sounds and midi selections. My goals are to add more frames of the hero, more tiles, frames of the enemies, and background images.

I did not have a thorough understanding of computer graphics before I started this project. Now I know quite a bit. I am glad now that when I asked my friend to draw me a hardy adventure character, he drew a bizarre looking creature that you would expect to find in a game starring The Tick after he was exposed to massive amounts of radiation (The Tick is a popular cartoon character, if you didn't know). Because of my friend's weird artistic style, I was forced to draw on my own and learned a lot in the process.

As the game develops, I will continually add more elements to this page. Expect to see more information and screen-shots later.
