I do hope that our week was off to a fantastic start.
While at work today, a colleague called my attention to a flat tire she had noticed on my car. Sure enough, on examination, the tire was most definitely flat. I had the matter resolved with one telephone call. While making my way to the house, I was reminded how fortunate and blessed I am. Surely, I could have discovered the flat tire before work this morning, and had a delay. I could have had the flat on the freeway…. Disaster, delay and distress! Even my flat tire was well timed!
Romans 8:28 reads, "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
As a child of God I can always marvel at God’s magnificent timing; I am assured that even a delay has a God directed purpose! Ever experienced a major disappointment or cancellation, only to realize later that it was life saving or a blessing in disguise. Some years ago, while employed as a bank clerk, I called out sick feeling a bit physically and mentally exhausted. That day the bank was robbed and a couple of my friends were hurt by the robbers! God knows all things and directs the way of his children.
Let us pray, “Dear Lord, you are truly God alone. You are worthy of praise, honor and glory. I am sorry for the times when I try to manipulate things and question your direction. You always see the big picture, while I am ever so near sighted. I pray for the strength to surrender and trust you implicitly. I ask for child like faith and the humility of Christ. Remove the tendency in me to be prideful. Help me to accept your hands in my life and learn to be patient when things do not go as I planned them. I want to see delays as your way of saying, “Slow down”, “”take a breath” or “STOP!!” I thank you for protecting me, walking with me and divine direction. Today I pray for my loved ones, work mates, relatives, neighbors and enemies. I ask that you bless the leaders and lawmakers of this land. Comfort and protect those who are serving at war and bring a speedy end to the conflicts. Grant me wisdom in dealing with my finances, and also in my relationships. Forgive me all my sins and help me to be more forgiving, in Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
