Oppressive Snowflakes

Slowly I trudge through the cold.
Sharp wind stings at me,
and my flesh prickles.
My teeth chatter with extreme intensity
and I realize that I can't survive much longer.
You are there, somewhere out of the cold
Out of the sharp burn of the snow,
yet I cannot seem to reach you.

Frustrated tears reach my eyes
there is no way out, it seems.
Reluctantly I fall to the ground.
I allow the cold to come over me,
and as I begin to warm, I become
tired. My eyes feel heavy, so I allow
them to close.

Just as I begin to sleep, I hear your
Voice. I call your name, but my voice is just a
whisper, lost against the cutting
wind and oppressive snowflakes.

A single tear falls down my cheek,
and I allow myself to rest
At Last.
