| Got an
email from a white boy today and this is what he had to say: "For
my award, your website does NOT qualify and this is the reason why:
Ain't enough personal content." But i knew that wasn't what he
really meant. He said, "the site, too political it was" and
still this reason was not the REAL BECAUSE. So i questioned him more to
get to the truth, even though, his keystrokes would be moot. Further, he
said, "your essays, too political they be: your sketches should
only on one page we see; your awards are really nice but i should not
have to say this twice, your website is not personal enough!" and
then, he started talkin' some real stuff: "Your poetry, that might
fit right but that's where your racism comes to light!" So, i asked
him to make his point finer, "You mean when kkkops, killed my baby
when they kicked me in my vagina? or should i have remained calm when on
my family, white folk dropped a bomb? or when my children were trampled
by whites on horseback? or my brotha falsely arrested and hung in his
jail cell? that's a fact! Or when kkkops kicked in my doors? Surely this
MUST be from which my racism pours! These are some of the points
that my poems made; thus, i couldn't overstand the point he relayed.
Finally, i asked the ultimate question: "are you saying that, i who
have given violence towards NO ONE!, but have been beaten by whites both
individually and while they represented the system, i have NO RIGHT to
give VOICE to these experiences?
The white boy was silent. NO MORE EMAIL!.... hmph... |
