Norman was well into his thirties before he decided to be a stand-up comedian. He played the original comedy Store many times and even supported the Clash. Television and radio followed a few years later and of course the role that he is best known for "Holly" in Red Dwarf. He considers himself to be a stand-up comedian that can act a bit and has yet to appear in a Pantomime. (taken from Normans official site)
His daughters seem particularly keen to follow in their fathers footsteps as they even performed up on stage with him, and later Kitty on her own, at one of Red Dwarfs Dimension Jump concensions recently!
