| William pit sunk around 1806 had shafts to a depth of 891 feet. The downcast shaft 12ft in diameter used for winding men and minerals. The upcast shaft was 14 feet in diameter. EXPLOSIONS 18/02/1839 21 lives lost. 26/11/1907 5 lives lost. 03/06/1941. 15/08/1947 104 lives lost. Closed in 1954. (Entered again from Harrington No10 colliery Lowca in 1967 and used for ventilation). |
