William Pit Whitehaven
William pit  sunk around 1806 had shafts to a depth of 891 feet.
The downcast shaft 12ft in diameter used for winding men and minerals. The upcast shaft was 14 feet in diameter.

15/08/1947  104 lives lost.

Closed in 1954.
