ALASKAN JADEITE
KING of JADE
[WOMEN'S RINGS] [MEN'S RINGS] [WOMEN'S NKLC.] [MEN'S NKLC. & BOLOS]

All of our Jade, is Alaskan Jade Jadeite,
hand-crafted in Alaska,

unique, and
custom made.

Most shops and sites about Alaskan Jade, sell jade that is not even from Alaska, but from British Columbia, Canada, or from Burma. Some will even display an Alaskan flag; as a diversion, trying to side-step the issue. The few that do sell Alaska Jade, usually sell the lower grade nephrite, not jadeite. Most of these do not process the Nephrite Jade in Alaska, but ship it to Hong Kong, Thailand, or the Philippines to be carved. Our shop is small, with only single person tools, no manufacturing. All jewelry is one of a kind, and necklaces are all hand made.

Jade, often referred to as the "Stone of Heaven". 'Jadeite, the more expensive and more desirable variety, was more sought after by the Chinese after 1740.', Jewelry & Gems, The Buying Guide, by Matlins, page 168. Many feel that Jade brings good luck, health and fortune, assists during childbirth and protects infants from disease. Throughout the East, millions wear jade amulets believing that they give the owner power, knowledge, pure thoughts, long life and immortality.

Jadeite in Alaska
"Rough Jadeite, as well as nephrite, is said to occur in Alaska."* The gem making capital of the world was located in Idar-Oberstein, Germany instead, of the present day Hong Kong. Since then Jadeite has taken a back seat to the much more plentiful, but lower quality Nephrite Jade, discovered later in the Kotzebue (Jade Mountain) area. If the plentifulness of the Nephrite was not enough to obscure the finding of Jadeite, the discovery of gold was. Although not commonly known, there are also lower grades of Jadeite deposits in Washington and California.

Geology Report 58

Glaucophane Bearing Metabasite "Coarse-grained jadeite occurs in metabasite at one locality on the south slope VABM Ruby Ridge (pl1). Jadeite and glaucophane in this rock are cut by a later foliation. Jadeite may have been more common in metabasite prior to greenschist facies overprinting." more of report
