Vampire: The Dark Ages

When setting a chronicle in the dark ages it is best to have as much background knowledge about the time period as possible. If you can find a map of the country you want to set the chronicle in the time period you want it so much the better. The local library is a wealth of knowledge about who invented what and when, and how commonly available it was at the time. Periodic music may help to set the scene and it would be a good idea to know what the general beliefs/misconceptions about science and supernaturals were at the time. It is quite hard to detach yourself from the things that you already know have come to pass as a player and it is often quite tempting to make actions we would have no way of justifying. (I'm just popping over to America to discover gold.)
Here is where I would say if he facts in the real world do not fit your chronicle them fudge them, this is the World of Darkness after all, not the real world. (besides it keeps all those players with a good knowledge of history on their toes, hee, hee, hee.)
It needs to be taken into consideration the social status that a character has. Although a female is classed as a second class citizen in mortal eyes very few vampires indeed would openly make such a suggestion to a female vampire. They are just as strong as any male, some of them more so. Also a Lord may have rule over his domain in the eyes of mortals but he does not have any status over the prince who may only be a peasant in the eyes of mortals. Here is where complications set in. Now more than ever it seems even before the Masquerade vampires lived a dual unlife, one as a vampire and one as a mortal.
There are a few differences between the disciplines in The Dark Ages and the modern nights. This is done deliberately to show the difference that time has made on the way that people do things (eg. Celerity.)

The clans of the Camarilla, some example characters to help those who have little practical knowledge on making White wolf characters, and for those Storytellers who get really bogged down with making up yet another NPC's Statistics.
