| Okay, so that is not a picture of me, but rather of my nephew and niece, the lights of my life AND the newest twigs on our family tree! My other passion in life is genealogy and I hope that they will take an interest in it as they grow older. |

| Some of the surnames in my family tree are: CAIRNEY, CURRIE, CARL, HUNTER, JACKSON, KEAY, KERR, KELLY, McILMOYLE, NESBITT, NICHOLS, PALMATEER, REID, WHITMORE and WILSON. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Here is my listing with Rootsweb, where you can see most of the individuals in my family tree & also view the info in a tree format. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The search on my paternal side thus far has been in Ontario, Canada. My gggg-grandfather was a United Empire Loyalist, having been a sergeant in Captain Peter Drummond's army during the Revolutionary War. The search on my maternal side thus far has been in Scotland. My grandfather was a shipwright and worked on the building of the RMS Queen Mary. |

| I have an aunt who is a Canadian War Bride. (A woman of another nationality who married a Canadian Soldier) Here is her harrowing tale of crossing the Atlantic three times by ship just to try and meet up with her new husband. In fact, on one of those trips she was a Stowaway. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| I finally went on my dream vacation to the U.K. Take a look at some of my pictures. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The following poem was written by my mother, who believe it or not, is not a genealogist! She is a good listener though, and has obviously heard me when I talk of my trials and tribulations, joy and excitement, as she has captured my feelings perfectly in this work of art. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Thank you Mom for letting me show it here. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| ELUSIVE ANCESTOR OF MINE You trickle down through time Unknown, unseen, unheard And float on pools of bottomless depth Or whisper from a word You hide in fathomless void No hint, no clue, no sign That you were ever on this earth Elusive ancestor of mine Your blood runs through my veins I sense, I feel, I know That somewhere I'll find part of you That leads where I must go Where were you born? Where did you live? What's your mother's maiden name? What did you do? Who did you know? What is your claim to fame? In shrouds of mystery you hide Didn't read, didn't write, didn't know That I would be here seeking you Long after you would go I feel you at my shoulder Wish you could show a sign To lead the steps that I must take On this endless quest of mine Like wisps of smoke you flee What town, what shire, what land Holds the secret that was you In its tight fisted hand? I'll find you...this I promise No clue, no stone unturned And hope that when we finally meet You'll be proud of what I learned By S.E.G. 2003 |
