Why do this?
I've always liked going places that i'm not supposed to be. Another reason is because i'm too damn curious for my own good and watched the Indiana Jones movies too many times. Seriously though, I do this to document old buildings and places. Rather than read about history in books we get out there and explore historic places.

Danger?
Yes climbing around in falling down buildings and stuff is very dangerous. Never explore buildings alone. Wear the appropriate clothing as well. Wear heavy boots if possible. You don't want to get a nail stuck in your foot or get your foot cut up from broken glass. Another thing you have to worry about with old buildings is asbestos. It causes cancer and it's not fun. Most old buildings have asbestos covered pipes in them somewhere. Watch out for rotton floors, the last thing you want to do is fall to your death in some building where nobody with ever find you. It's also a good idea to let someone know where you're going and when to expect you back, just incase.

What to bring?
When going exploring be prepared. If you have a long walk ahead of you bring water and food if you think you might need it. Wear old clothes that you don't care about, you're bound to rip the shit out of anything you wear. If you're like me and you never know when you might find something worth exploring, always carry a flash light. There's nothing worse than stumbling around in some old building in the dark. Maglight flashlights are best. Get the one that takes at least 4d cell batteries because they're good and bright. Work gloves might come in handy as well if your need to do any climbing. If you're going to be exploring something where there's a chance you'll get caught, don't have bolt cutters, lock picking kit or anything that could incriminate you in your backpack. Also make sure everyone has their stories straight just incase. Bring a camera or camcorder to document everything. Some people suggest caring ID just incase you die.
