Dealing with grief and loss

This page has taken much more time and effort to put together. It has led me to face pains and resentments that I thought I had overcome. Once again, I'm learning that healing is an ongoing effort that does not just happen, no matter how strong and resourceful we may think we are.

I wish I could tell you I've found all the answers. I haven't, so I'm giving you a list of starting points for resources.

If you or someone you know is going through the grieving process, it is important to remember that each person will deal with it in a different way. There is no "right" or "wrong", there is no time period.

If you are a friend of this person there is something that I do want you to remember. Do not avoid the person because you may be uncomfortable with their tears. Pick up the phone and if nothing else, just listen.

If you are uncomfortable seeing your formerly strong friend now a tearful wreck, deal with that yourself, but don't forget, that person will be strong again and will remember those who stood by them as friends.

If you are the one trying to deal with a loss then please remember that there is no shame in asking for help.
