Following the path of Alexis Weissenberg; Eduardo del Pueyo; J. Cl. Vanden Eynden; Maurizio Pollini and Pierre Boulez, for Mehmet Okonşar, music is not mere entertainment. His awesome keyboard technique is here serving the delicacies of Schubert or Chopin and his keen musical understanding enlightens equally easily Stockhausen or Beethoven. A musician should be comprehensive. "You can not read music if you can not write it.*" Accordingly Okonşar is a very diversified musician. Composer, conductor, writer and educator Mehmet Okonşar is offering highly eclectic concert programs but refuses all the so-called "specializations". He is equally at ease with Bach, Chopin, Liszt and also Rameau, Boulez, Stockhausen and Berio... He manages his career and runs his own publishing and CD companies.
