| I desperately wanted a Basenji. I didn’t know of any other way to find a breeder, so I told myself that as soon as I found a Basenji in the newspaper, I would go and get it. So that’s just what I did. I purchased Brinkley from a “Backyard Breeder”. These are people who don’t really know or even care to know much about the breed they have chosen beyond the scope of their own back yard. They do not health test, nor select for temperament. Often, little or no socialization is provided for their puppies. This may sound bad, but had I known then what I know now, I would have never have bought him. Because of Brinkley’s breeder’s possible lack of knowledge, or her just plain ignorance and carelessness, Brinkley has some health and minor temperament issues. To read more about Basenji health issues, click here. Brinkley was born on January 2, 2000. I am so very glad that I DID get him. He is a wonderful companion and a joy to have around. Brinkley is my sweetie. He can be a BIG brat sometimes (after all, he IS a Basenji!), but overall he’s a great dog. I've learned by trial and error with him, and we've come a long way. Brinkley is an excellent runner, and he LOVES chasing the bunny. . He will be running again this season in lure coursing and LGRA trials. |

Dislikes: Being cold, rain, snow, getting his nails done, being disturbed while sleeping, the neighbor’s evil cats. |
