Princess Brittney and the Blue Fairy

Princess Brittney lived near the beautiful forest and loved to ride horses with her grandmother through the forest. On a warm summers day, Princess Brittney and her grandmother rode their horses into the forest for a picnic lunch on the shore of the magical lagoon.

Princess Brittney had no idea what a wonderful day this was going to be. As she sat on the small bridge that crossed the lagoon, she saw something shimmering beneath the water. She reached down to pick it up and found it was a sparking ruby. It was the biggest ruby she had ever seen.

She was going to run back and tell her grandmother what she had found when she heard a small voice say "please do not take my ruby away." Princess Brittney was startled because she didnt know there was anyone else around ... she turned and saw a lovely fairy all dressed in blue sitting on the other side of the bridge.

"Oh my," said Princess Brittney, "is this your ruby?" The Blue Fairy answered and said "yes, I am the keeper of the garden of magical stones." "Magical stones" said Princess Brittney, "how wonderful, are there any more?" The Blue Fairy told Princess Brittney that all the diamonds, rubies, emeralds, saphires and other beautiful gems in the forest grew in her underwater garden and sometimes the frogs that play in the lilly pad pond pick up a stone and carry it into the lagoon.

Princess Brittney loved the glimmering red ruby, but knew she could not keep it because it belonged to the Blue Fairy. She walked across the bridge and handed the ruby to the Blue Fairy. "Thank you very much" said the Blue Fairy,"would you like to visit my underwater garden?"

Princess Brittney dove into the water and followed the Blue Fairy to her underwater cave. When Princess Brittney arrived at the cave, she was suprised to see that she was no longer under the water and the air was clear and fresh. Everywhere she looked she could see gems of every color and size on the walls and floor of the cave. They sparkled in the sunlight that was peeking through cracks and small holes above her head. She asked the Blue Fairy where they were and the Blue Fairy would only tell her that they were somewhere in the beautiful mountains behind Princess Brittney's castle.

Princess Brittney and the Blue Fairy were sitting at the edge of the water inside the cave when Princess Brittney heard a rumble of thunder. The thunder sounded muffled inside the mountain, but the storm was very close. It was outside of the mountain where Princess Brittney and the Blue Fairy were looking at all the beautiful gems. "Hurry and help me gather some gems" the Blue Fairy said to Princess Brittney. "Why" asked Princess Bittney and the Blue Fairy said "I will tell you as we gather the gems."

Princess Brittney helped the Blue Fairy gather a basket of gems as the Blue Fairy explained that she was also the rainbow maker for the kingdom where Princess Brittney lives. That is the reason why she keeps all the beautiful colored gems safe inside her secret cave.

Princess Brittney and the Blue Fairy climbed to the top of the mountain and stepped out into the rain which was just beginning to stop. The Blue Fairy took a handful of gems from the basket and blew them into the sky and a beautful rainbow appeared and Princess Brittney knew why it was very important to keep the secret of the underwater cave. Princess Brittney always kept the secret safe and she and the Blue Fairy became forever friends.
