Heavy rain a pain in the...

DUBAI The unusual weather that hit the UAE yesterday is expected to carry on for the next two weeks, forecasters are predicting.

While farmers are very happy about the weather, city dwellers do not agree.

Road were flooded and almost 500 road accidents were reported in the cities across the UAE, although only two people were injured. Many home owners were stranded outside their houses because there was too much water blocking their front doors and authorities had to send water pumps to bail them out.

Fish markets were left empty because local fisherman are not kitted out to work in rainy weather.

“The bad weather is expected to continue in the next couple of weeks as low atmospheric pressures are pushing in from Europe and the Mediterranean Sea into the Arabian Gulf” cited the Central Forecasting Office yesterday.

And surf will definitely be up in Dubai with waves expected to reach an unprecedented six to eight feet along the coast!
