First off they must have lots of heart, good solid bone, a calm dispostion, a level head, a solid pedigree that is proven ie= by either, in the show ring or out on the trail or sometimes if neither one of those can be accomplished by conformation and brains. Color comes last, but sometimes is my deciding point if they stay. I strive to find the best cross for each mare. The mare is what makes the stallion, so a good mare is a must for a successful breeding program.
