ABOUT THE TENANT-ABOUT THE RAINBOW FLAG-ABOUT THE SITE
"Hotandsagey" is an artist, macrobiotic cook and writer. My real name is Jim Caola. I began the study and practice of macrobiotic principles nineteen years ago. I wrote a feature column for MacroChef Magazine, called What's New in Food? for about five years. You can read reprints of some of my articles here. MacroChef evolved into Christina Cooks Magazine for which I wrote a column called In Season. You'll find a table of contents for it here.
I am currently writing for Christina's LIVING HEALTHY JOURNAL -- you'll find reprints of my articles for it here.

The rainbow flag is equally associated with the Gay Rights Movement and the Rev. Jesse Jackson's presidential campaigns. It is a symbol of inclusion. I have selected it as a banner for this site because it stands for the freedom of ALL people regardless of sex, race, nationality, ethnicity, belief, age, ability or sexual orientation. The early organizers of the macrobiotic movement believed strongly in world government and "one peaceful world". I feel that the rainbow flag best represents individuals as citizens of ONE PLANET, free from the poison of nationalism and all such psychological divisions.
There are several "official" sites about macrobiotics on the Web (see Links) but I want to create a site where anyone interested in or already leading a macrobiotic way of life can refer frequently for practical suggestions, thoughful commentary and opinions, news and information on related subjects. Eventually I hope to create a place where we can interact and organize action through internet connectivity.
Macrobiotics isn't simply a way to eat. It must be lived. It must remain alive and changing, growing beyond a set of rules. Its philosophy and practice should be easily accessible to all who are interested, the poor as well as the well-heeled. We not only ought to respect our teachers but honor them as well by taking responsibility for breathing life into our own practice. The goal of macrobiotics is FREEDOM!
