Candles are invaulable in magic. And what better way to incorporate Fire into an altar or ritual? :-) Below are correspondances to help in choosing candle colors:

Please also realize that it is most important to think of what the color says to YOU, and use such correspondances as merely a guide.
A basic candle spell:Select a candle with the color appropriate to your wishes or purpose. Also select an oil with a scent fitting your purpose or one that is pleasant to you. Annoint the candle with the oil, if you wish to draw something to you, use a motion of rubbint the oil towards you (from tip of candle to bottom), if you wish to send out energy or banish something away, rub the oil "away" from your body, from bottom to tip. Charge candle with a verse while doing so, such as:
Upon this candle I will write,
What I require of Thee tonight.
May the runes of magic flow;
By mind and spell and flame aglow.
I trust that Thou wilt grant this boon;
O lovely Goddess of the Moon.
Use your knife or carving tool to carve your wishes into the candle. Try using a magical alphabet (if you can) such as Runic or Theban, because it helps you will help you to concentrate your intent more deeply. Light the candle and place on your altar, letting it burn itself all the way out.
