A sort of medieval dress
For the premiere of Lord of the Rings: Return of the King I decided to make a medieval dress. Since I'm not a Ring-fan I didn't want to do a costume from the film, I love the Middle Ages though.
I had first planned to use this pattern, which can be found from Sofia's Atelje , the site is based in Sweden and in Swedish but if you are interested you can order the patterns from abroad.
Before I ordered that pattern I got my hands on the McCall's 3797 pattern. I thought that the A model (light blue with large slieves) was close enough so I've made that dress instead.

This pattern isn't really medieval though, so I've done some alterations and that is also why I'm calling it a sort of medieval dress.

Alterations:

The material, according to the pattern it should be made in satin and georgette, but I've used cotton with a texture that is close to linnen.

The biggest change was that the pattern is supposed to have a zipper, but I've replaced that with hook and eye tape, which isn't medieval but at least not as modern as a zipper.

I've made the skirt with two layers, with the bottom layer in the same fabric as the slieves, I'm hoping that it will look as if I'm wearing two dresses on top of each other.
