The First Law (of Thermodynamics)
To touch this raw earth
Hold it as it sifts through my fingers
There is knowledge of an other ancient
order
Prescribed so distant from the grasp
Of the Homo sapien intellect
As we destroy ourselves
She will, of course, thrive on
With or without recognition
Of the elements we’ve transfigured
So basic my gathered facts
Pieced into a virtual concept
That we already know
What is and what has to be done
Yet a common ignorance
Will still insure that which is begun
