Gargoyle

Perched ancient wary of the city

Wings folded close to my back

To shield the acid rain

From my lizard skin

Jaw set in determination

Street sounds work like anesthesia

I taste the precipitation

As it runs down my face

It burns to my tongue

And feeds my desire

I’ve been a piece of this

Stonework for ages

Awaiting my lover to return

And release me to the night
