One year later the father was chosen, the very handsom American/Canadian, BIS and BISS champion, and multiple group and breed winner "Winston" (AKC/CKC CH. De-Li's
Early Warning). About 2 months after Zytta's and Winston's union, a big and healthy litter of eight was born on July 26,
1996. Suzanne was so excited, she had to see the pups right
away. From the first day she saw him, Suzanne knew who would be her pick-"light blue boy." Suzanne already knew what his
name would be. She wanted to name him after his mother. She
chose the registered name "Serendipity vor Zyten Alpstadt" [Serendipity (Kay's kennel name) vor Zyten (roughly translates to "Once upon a time" in German, although the spelling was changed to match Zytta) Alpstadt (Suzanne's chosen kennel name meaning "mountain town")]. His call name would be "Zurich".
Zurich's first day home was on September 20, 1996. Zurich immediately started into an active life. Within a
few weeks, he had traveled to Bernerfest and to New Glarus, WI where he rode in his mom's cart in the Octoberfest Parade.
He also started his obedience career in a Puppy Kindergarten
class at Petsmart. He even got to dress up for his first Halloween as a joker (and how true to this he became).
In May of 1997, Zurich attended the National
Specialty in beautiful Estes Park, CO. Here he got to enjoy a romp in the environment his body was made for -
the mountains. Upon returning from his travels, Zurich completed his Canine Good Citizen class and
passed with flying colors
[or was that flying fur] on June 21, 1997.
Suzanne and Zurich continue to work on obedience and agility,
and they have started in tracking and dabbling
in freestyle.
