| This sweet little Vega Funny Car was built by a fellow MCL Member some 29 Years ago when it first hit the shelves! It can still hold it's own today. It is painted Purple metalflake (which has held up well over the years)and the chassis was painted in Lavander to match, it was hand lettered by Mike himself, great job Mike! This Vega runs a long forgotten engine, the 427 Big Block Chevy. The car was wired and plumbed with old telephone wire and thread and Mike made a throttle return spring out of thin copper wire along with a hand made throttle lever. There are also parts from other kits to help bring this model to life, including the two drag chutes from the parts box. Mike has Just recently removed this car from the box it has been stored in since 1973! Come on guys, pull out those old Vega models and send me pics and a story! There is also a picture of an old business card That was printed in 1970,from when Mike and his brother where doing models, nice bit of nostalgia there. Mike said they did it as a goof, but did do work for friends. With lettering like that Mike, you guys should have made a business! Great Job! Thanks Mike, I am sure we will all enjoy seeing this little Vega, I know I do! |
