Well, we’re really on our way. We left at noon so we should get there around 4ish. I’ve decided that tonight I’ll just wear regular clothes with just a little face paint and tomorrow afternoon I’ll go to the matinee in my full Victoria costume. I think I’ll be too emotional to go in costume tonight and I don’t want to cry my makeup off.

The Bible says that is we delight ourselves in the Lord & acknowledge Him in all our ways He will give us the desires of our hearts and that is just what the Lord did for me.

For those of you who don’t know me let me tell you a little bit about myself. CATS first hit Broadway when I was only twelve (12) years old. I remember watching the commercial of the cast dancing and Old Deuteronomy hugging Grizabella as the tire was lifted into the air and Grizabella went “Up, up, up to the Heavyside Layer” and then going to my diary and writing, “Someday I’m going to go to New York to see this new play called CATS.” Well, I never made it to New York but I did make it to Dallas, Texas where I watched the Troika touring cast on stage for the first time and I must say, they absolutely took my breath away!

When we first walked into the theater we went over to check out some of the other shows that were going to be coming to that theater in the future. There were some CATS pictures there and some bookmarkers so we got a few of each * wink wink. *

We turned to go into the side of the theater that CATS was playing at and I saw a girl in a Jemima costume who was looking around nervously. I grabbed my Mom’s arm and said, “There’s Nikki!” I grabbed my tickets and ran up to the lady, turned in my tickets and went up to Nikki and said, “Are you Nikki?” She said yes and I said, “I’m Tigress.” We screamed and hugged each other and her mom and my mom started taking pictures of the two of us together. Then other people started taking pictures of us!!!  Then a man came up to us and told us that we had to go outside because cameras were forbidden, by law, to be inside the theater. And my Mom said, “But it’s just my daughter and her friend.” And he said, “Well take it outside. And while you’re out there leave your cameras.” So we all went outside and her Mom and my Mom started taking some more pictures. You can see some of Nikki’s great pictures
HERE.

That first night my Mom and I were in the balcony all the way on the far left of the theater against the wall. As the lights began to fade and the music started I grabbed my Mother’s hand and held my breath. The lights flashed, the eyes began to blink, and the music was in full blast and I watched as everything happened at once. I don’t think I breathed the whole time, in fact, I think I almost hyperventilated!

All of the numbers when off beautifully and I loved every minute of it. I thought I was going to cry but I didn’t.

Intermission time. We met up with Theresa and her daughter Nessa who were all the way on the other side of the theater. She said that there were two seats beside her that were empty and asked if we wanted to sit with her.  We said yes and so after intermission we sat with her on the other side of the theater.

Again the lights lowered and the music started. All of the numbers were so wonderful. I loved the Mr. Mistoffelees number! It was so much more expressive that the video version. And it was really great to see all of the stuff that was left out of the video.  And we got to see the Growltigrer number for the first time, it was interesting. Gridlebone was so cute.

After the show naturally everyone was leaving and as we were walking outside Theresa said, “There go your friends maybe that’s the stage door.” So I followed them and that was exactly where they were going. The crowd was still very small when I got over there so I was able to make my way to the front where Nikki, her little sister and her friend were. When I got there I heard a lady telling another lady that the makeup was copyrighted so I asked her if she was in the show and she said yes that she was a swing so I got her autograph. Then I went up by the door where Nikki was and then one by one the cast started coming out.
