PDD Planet was inspired firstly by my son Jaden. He never ceases to amaze me. He walks through life with such dignity, innocence and sense of wonder. It's an honour to learn with him, see things through "his eyes", and parent him. He truly is amazing.
As well, this site was inspired by his daily experiences in trying to keep up with the world around him. As high-functioning as Jaden is, like everyone else...he has difficulties with some things, some quirkiness about him...and unfortunately most don't ask the "how's" or "why's". This could be due to being uncomfortable, it could be due to ignorance, or...it could be due to lack of knowledge.
Whatever the reasons are, they don't matter. We're here to help unravel some of the myths and misconceptions surrounding Autism Spectrum Disorders, and hopefully...put your mind at ease about these unique children. They are no different than you and me. They have hopes, goals & dreams just as we do. Children are our future, no matter where their abilities lie. |
