A WEEK'S WORK

Mr. Johnson, Mr. Links.

Dear Sirs,

I have to report for week ending Friday December 19th. The men worked a full week breaking & bagging stone at riverside. Patrick's boat took approximately 30 tons this week. I do not know the exact weight yet, as the lorries only took the last load today.

The Shipping Company only had enough space for 30 ton. I will have another 50 ton bagged by next Wednesday, the day we cease work until after the Xmas holidays.

If you want to work the holiday period, wire me by Wednesday next. Would you please forward me the right award for this particular job here. The award that I have does not cover mining.

Yours Obediently

N. Bailey.

BUSHFIRES

Mr. Johnson, Mr. Links.

Dear Sirs,

I have to report for the week ending Friday January 2nd. The two men who break & bag the stone did not work last week. Mr. W. Smith started today Monday 5th, and Mr. W. Simmonds is starting tomorrow.

Up to the time of writing we have been fighting fires for 24 hours, keeping them back from the house, the temperature here yesterday was 114 deg. The police and a large party of residents were up here helping to keep back the fires. It is practically burnt all round us now. There was no damage done thank goodness to any of your property.

Please send a cheque to enable me to pay the men next Friday January 9th.

Yours Obediently

N. Bailey.
