Journey II
Photo - Background - Autostrada in southern Calabria.
Foreground -   Very long, narrow and winding road leading up to Scigliano
The hand of Divine grace brought me back.  "Her beacon has summoned me home...”
Yes, we were armed and dangerous.   With a plan in hand, (to drive at least 1,800 kilometers through and around Italy) we were armed with international driver's licenses, trusty maps of Italy, a compact 4-speed rental chariot, and the intense desire to have what is equivalent to a once in a lifetime experience . . .

Dangerous?  Oh yes!   Who ever said, "All roads lead to Rome" wasn't joking ~ we couldn't find our way OUT of Rome!   This was just the first of many "begging for help" events along our way.   And, with that, a kind young man (who went completely out of his way as we followed him to the autostrada ramp towards Naples) assisted us in getting out of the ancient città, Roma ~  unscathed . . .

Please join me on my second journey, while I find more pieces of my famiily puzzle and take home validation for my father Alberto.  Once again my mantra “This is why I came” would echo . . . Exploring the paese of my paternal nonni Antonio Pallone, in southern Calabria.  I am the first in my father’s family to locate and visit Scigliano.  My hope is that I won't be our last . . .
Please be aware: "Roma Again" is a long page and may take time to load due to many photos.  But, it is well worth the wait!
