ABOUT US

I raised Chows in my younger years before I
knew what a show dog was.
Then one day my teenaged daughter brought home a dark
red male Pekingese that was absolutely beautiful. She named him
Tammie's Shadow of Gin Sing. She called him Gin-Gin. I fell in love
with him,and got very interested in the breed. I went to a local show
one day and became very interested in the sport. I asked many
questions. I later, in 1987, heard of a guaranteed show dog that
was for sale by a local exhibitor. I went and purchased a little
red bitch that I named Westhaven's Tia Windchime, and started
showing her. Turns out Tia wasn't such a spectacular show dog after
all,so after showing her for a while and only winning her class I
retired her from conformation and instead went into obedience with her.
She excelled in this. I swear that dog understood whatever I said. I
then purchased Alex from Prima Pekingese in South Dakota. He was my
first Champion and then I was hooked!! I went to visit Don Johnson in
S.C. and he let me have a few nice dogs, one of which was a nice
Australian Champion. Elizabeth Nisbet of Nisbet's Bulldogs had aquired
some Pekingese also, and around 1995 she let me have them, one of
which was Champion Clocroft Lu Shih, a beautiful male, and from
those humble beginnings Chownese Kennels was started
