  •      Here's the first place to stop for answers to frequently-asked questions! Some of these come from the message board, others from e-mail.

Q: How many fruit + veggies per day should your budgie get?

A: Each day you should give your budgies at least one, if not more, fruit or veggie. For a well rounded diet, even a couple different kinds of fruits or veggies would be good!

Q: My bird is looking ill... what should I do?

A: For one, you should not be e-mailing me! If your bird is showing the slightest signs of illness, you should take a trip to an avain vet immediatly!

Q: I've heard that I'm not supposed to give my budgie grit, but other books and websites I visit say I should... what should I do?

A: First of all, not all websites and books are up-to-date! Check the publishing/updating date on all websites and books before you use their info!
Second of all, you should NOT feed your budgie or any hookbilled bird grit. They don't require it, and if your bird binges on grit instead of eating it's normal diet, serious crop damage can result. So no grit!

Q: I like to let my birds fly around the room while their out, should I really get their wings clipped?

A: Yes. I've heard of sooo many accidents related to the fact that a bird has unclipped wings. They can fly out a window, door, up a chimney, into a mirror, window, or ceiling fan, or even get shut in a door. For pet birds that aren't kept in an avairy, wing clipping is a MUST!!! It's for their own safety.

To those who sent in questions, thanks! There will be more Q & A's coming soon, so stop by!
