We sell birds, fish, and small animals; We do not sell cats or dogs.

Why we sell animals..

We feel that we offer the best, most-socialized, healthiest birds in Austin, most of which are raised by a member of our staff. Our bunnies have been handled everyday, not warehoused in cages their entire lives. The fish we sell are the healthiest in Austin, our sources we select based on husbandry practices, not on prices. We quarantine our new fish arrivals, to allow them time to recover from shipping. We also have worked with several small rescue groups in the past, and sometimes have adoption days, now that our new, bigger store allows the space. We are proud of our policies, and the care we give our animals.

1 . We want people to own pets. We like animals, and we like people who like animals. Not every pet is perfect for every person, but we hope we can help you find the right animal either through us, or another source.

2. We only recommend the best and healthiest course of action for you and your animals, even if that means we advise you NOT to buy an animal.

3. Rescue animals are not for everyone(although we whole-heartedly advise Adoption First). You can get the perfect pet through adoption, or you might end up with an abused animal with severe behavioral problems, or one with lifelong health issues. Someone abandoned this animal because there is a problem, either with the human or the animal. Buy a pet through our store and you know the history of the pet, its age, and a bit of its personality. Often we will ask you to come back to visit the animal a few times before agreeing to the sale.

4 . We believe that the supply-only stores are not contributing to placing new pets in peoples' homes. Yes, there are bad pet stores out there, selling "mill" animals, in it just to make a buck, just like there are bad hair stylists, bad restaurants, and bad car mechanics.
You don't have to patron a place, or person if you don't like the way they do things.

5 . More importantly, because of our hands-on experience, we can educate, you, the customer, on how to better care for your own pets.

6. We are a PET STORE. We would be a pet supply store, if we only sold supplies.
