The Garfield

Several years ago, my Grandson gave me a plaque that reads Grandma's Are Just Antique Little Girls.... Well, that plaque is absolutely right. At least where I'm concerned. I love the Miniature Mansions and all the furnishings that make them complete. Including the little families and tiny accessories. Many years ago I started collecting and assembling House of Miniatures furniture kits. I always told myself that "someday" I would have one of those Huge, Gorgeous, Victorian Mini Mansions to display the furniture in. It was almost 20 years later but my dream finally became a reality with The Garfield by Greenleaf.

Being a novice at this dollhouse building, I followed the instructions to the letter. I didn't know about changing the plans to suit oneself and if I had known I would have been too unsure to attempt it. I'd never heard of "kit-bashing." But, five years later - I can kit-bash. I've learned to build furniture from scratch because what I wanted was just to expensive already completed. I've learned to make Fimo food and other accessories from Fimo. And I've learned to create tiny houseplants using florist tape and wire. But one thing I will never be able to master is miniature people. My few attempts were/are pretty laughable. I salvaged one little make-believe person whom I named Henrietta. She's the Cook in The Garfield.

This Mini Mansion, The Garfield, is decorated, electrified, furnished, and inhabited by a tiny porcelain family.
