--The Family of
Witts—
Alfred George was wild -
Alfred George was bold
Henry Though of tender years
mentally was old
Edwin always staid, and very
proper
Conduct, face, and manner
suited frock coat and silk bell – topper
Walter free, easy, happy at
work and play,
Whether the day was sunny,
cloudy, dull or grey
Fred, quiet, self-conscious,
careful, and most cautious
Herbert, quick and tidy, dirt
to him was Nauseous
Minnie came along, Gods own
precious gift
to steady the wild,
boisterous boys - there moral tone uplift
Arthur, big and kindly of
Character and will
to get through his allotted
task – I believe he’s that way still
Sam, patiently awaiting,
whilst others had their choice
Content to take the residue,
no protest would he voice
Ellen, another sister, Gods
gift to us once more
something we could cherish,
something to adore
Lou was always happy,
talkative and bright
His mission spreading
gladness, not discord, strife and fright
Maurice stern and dour,
almost free from guile
He’d tell a joke or
family yarn without a laugh or smile
Charley was the very last,
blue eyed, with long bright curls
That made a bakers dozen
including boys and girls
