The Plate

By Christopher

There are times when running is not the way.
There is a time that comes to face you,
Yes, take a deep look to see you for you
Not what others want to see but what you need to see.
A smile crooked not straight do to there be too much on your plate.

You look in your past at happy folks living life
To the full but look back at that picture again,
Yes, look at yourself and do you see it,
Yes the deference is so clear you pass it by but I
Cannot help but notice it.
A smile crooked not straight do to there is too much of everyone else stuff on your plate.

You run scared of the future do to not having a past,
Without loosing yourself respect break the chains lose the shackles,
Take care of yourself and let others take their loads,
Be strong stand tall so that the next time you look at the past
A smile not crooked but straight because you have nothing extra on your plate.
