I often wonder how many poets were inspired by the love of a caring Mom. For many of us, a poem about our mothers would be the easiest thing in the world to write about. I can think of no greater influence in my life, both as a writer and a person, than my Mom, and feel proud when others tell me how much of my mother they see in all the things I do. This is also what makes a poem about a mother so hard, for how could anyone ever put down in words how important it is to have a loving, caring Mom in your life. I could never have words take the place of the love I have for my mother, but I hope it pleases her, knowing that whenever I come across anything in my life I'm not sure of, if I look at things through my mother's eyes, I will always do the right thing. |
