This page is dedicated to our  1961 Airstream Caravel - Gertrude.   We found her in  Ohio with the help of  We picked her up in August of 2004 and brought her home to Colorado.  In the summer of 2005 we relocated to Owings Mills, MD.  While the move has slowed the renovation progress, Gertrude is looking very different than she did when we acquired her.  This page will follow the renovation of Gertrude and our trips with her.

Gertrude's History

This is a brief summary of  Gert's history:

Gertrude was manufactured in Airstream's Jackson Center, Ohio plant and was purchased new in New York.  Her first owners were originally from Ohio and wanted to be buried there.  They traded Gert to family members in Ohio for a burial plot.  She was owned by that family in Ohio until just a few years ago.  She was then purchased by Angela (still in Ohio), and in 2004 Angie sold her to us.  After living for about one year in Colorado, Gert moved to Maryland with us and splits her time between my Mom's back yard in Western Maryland and the south branch of the Potomac River near Srpingfiled, WV.
