A & D type Overdrive Hydraulic Oil Pressure Test Gauge Set, functionally equal to / better than Churchill L.188, which has long been out of production.

If your A or D type overdrive is not behaving properly, this primary diagnostic tool will help you identify and solve the problem. Without the correct oil pressure the overdrive will not function as it should.

This new, well made and unused gauge set allows the oil pressure generated by the overdrive oil pump to be known as the overdrive operates, either on a test stand or even better, while still mounted in the car, providing key diagnostic information about the overdrive unit for fault diagnosis and repair. Every A Type Overdrive workshop manual I've seen mentions the hydraulic pressure test ( for example - TR4 spec: 380 - 400 PSI ) using this gauge set-up as a primary diagnostic indicator. "Low pressure indicates leakage at the pump valve seat, a broken accumulator spring or faulty piston rings." [TR4 Factory Workshop Manual, 2nd edition, 1965]

Application: A type Overdrives are installed on Aston Martin ( DB4, DB2 ) Triumph ( TR2, TR3, TR3A, TR3B, TR4, TR4A, TR5, TR250, TR6 [early], 2.5 & 2000 ranges, Stag [early]), Jaguar ( XK 140, XK 150, MKVII, MKVIIM, MKVIII, MKIX ), Bristol, Ferrari ( 250 GT, 400 SA ), Ford (Consul & Zephyer, phase I & II), Humber (Hawk, Super Snipe) Austin Healey ( 100, 100-6, 3000 - BN1, BN2, BN4, BN6, BT7, BN7, BJ7, BJ8 ), Jensen 541, Rover (60, 75, 80, 90 & 100, P.5, T.C. 3 litre), Standard (Vanguard, Ensign) Sunbeam (Alpine, Talbot Mk III), and others.

D type Overdrives are found on Fiat (2300, 1800), Hillman Minx, MG Magnette, MGB 3-synchro, Triumph ( Spitfire, Vitesse & GT 6 ranges ), Sunbeam ( Alpine & Rapier ), Humber Sceptre, Vauxhall Victor,Volvo ( P 1800, 122 S ) and many other automobiles of the era.

J Type Overdrive Hydraulic Oil Pressure Gauge Test Set - Functionally equal to / better than Churchill L.188-2, which has long been out of production and not commercially available. If your J Type Overdrive is not functioning properly, this primary diagnostic tool will help you determine and solve the problem.

The J Type gauge set consists of:

Custom fabricated steel fitting to replace the test port plug (adjacent to the solenoid) and provide oil connection to the hose going to the gauge.
12 inch long, high pressure (3000 PSI) hose with pressed on end fittings and brass gauge connecting fitting. 0 > 600 PSI, 2 ½ inch diameter pressure gauge - liquid (glycerin) filled, which helps absorb vibration and pressure spikes, increasing the service life of the gauge. The dampening action of the liquid also reduces pointer flutter and lubricates the internal parts of the gauge. The allowable operating / ambient temperature of the glycerin is -4F to 140F (-20C to 60C). Gauge has a 304 stainless steel case, polycarbonate window, black-finished galvalume pointer, galvalume dial (white background with blue and black markings), brass movement and phosphor bronze bourdon tube.

If your LH Type Overdrive is not functioning properly, this primary diagnostic tool will help you idientify and solve the problem. Functionally equal to / better than Factory Tools no.18G-251 & 18G- 251E, which have long been out of production and not commercially available.

The LH gauge set consists of:

Custom fabricated steel fitting to replace the relief valve plug and provide oil connection to the hose going to the gauge.
12 inch long, high pressure (3000 PSI) hose with pressed on end fittings and brass gauge connecting fitting.
0 > 600 PSI, 2 ½ inch diameter pressure gauge - liquid (glycerin) filled, which helps absorb vibration and pressure spikes, increasing the service life of the gauge.
