I make every attempt to choose web sites whose standards and practices are similar to my own, however I cannot control changes that occur after the link is made nor can I make any guarantees about the way your information will be handled on those sites. Please read each site's privacy policy before submitting information to them.

Confidentiality

Should you choose to contact me be assured that any information you provide will be kept in the strictest confidentiality. I do not sell, rent or trade identifying information with anyone. Nor will I post anything you share on this web site without your express consent.

This being said, by communicating with me you consent to my gathering of identifying information such as name or online alias, email address, telephone number, etc. so I may contact you in future. If you provide information that will assist me in tracing my family tree or finding family members I will follow up on it. I will not, however, share the specifics of the information provided (e.g. the text of your email) nor will I divulge the source of my information to the family member sought without your express permission.

Visitor Tracking

I make use of a visitor counter supplied by a third party. Information gathered by the counter is non-identifying except for IP address, which can be identifying depending on your internet connection. All information is regularly discarded as new data replaces it. I do not save this information about you unless I suspect illegal activity (e.g. email address harvesting.)

Otherwise, I use the information gathered by the counter solely to improve my web site - so you can see it how it was meant to be seen. I will never rent, sell or give visitors' information to a third party.

Post Adoption Reunion

I respect the fact that post adoption reunion is a difficult subject for some people, and that some people would like to keep records closed. Not withstanding, it is my choice to search for my birth family and I believe that as much as I have questions to ask them, I have important information to communicate to them. If it is your choice to avoid contact I invite you to make use of the Alberta Post Adoption Registry to update family medical history at the very least.

Members of my birth family are encouraged to seek whatever form of communication is comfortable for them. I am quite willing to make contact through an intermediary, to exchange email or snail mail, or to chat electronically or by phone. I have no specific expectations from you or any other member of my birth family. I vow to work with you to close the gap between us, respecting your feelings and needs.

Minors

Minors are cautioned against submitting any identifying information (your name, phone number or address, city, school, etc.) to any person or service on the internet without the express permission of their parents. I will not knowingly collect such information from any child under 13.
