N.E. - Mankind has split into three basic groups. |

Attempting to hold civilization together in the large cities, Corporatists attempt to keep technology as it was. They hold people in the large, walled cities (which are decaying anyway) and keep their power and influence. This is your basic Blade Runner setting. The whole point of the Corporatists is to sell things to people and to keep people around to sell things too. They have the only functional militia and are the only organized force. Corporatists periodically try to go out and "organize" and "Civilize" the Squatters. Their aim is to make it impossible for the Squatters to survive without them and eradicate the Seidr altogether. Primary location for Corporatists is the urban area surrounding what used to be San Francisco. Corporatists have access to science and the resources to use it. Corporatists can be rogue scientists, militia men, rogue warriors, government officials and CEOs rule it all. They have NO magical or Psychic abilities because they've kicked everyone out who has any of the above.
-Squatters-

Live outside of Corporate held cities. Organized into small villages. Natural selection has led some Squatter humans to manifest highly developed psychic abilities. Squatters are usually small farmers, craftsmen, conspiracy theorists, and descendants of former Berkeley hippie weirdoes. Their aim is to remain independent of the Corporatists and they have an uneasy relationship with the Seidr. They consider the Seidr traitors to the civilization they're struggling so hard to keep alive. They view the Seidr mutation as a threat to the continuation of the human race in its natural pre-apocalyptic form. Primary locations for Squatters are outside the former city of San Francisco and scattered around the countryside.
-Seidr-

Formerly human, now mutated the
Seidr are a highly secretive wild race with magical abilities. They resemble
humans totally, with a slightly more "Fey" twist. Some can blend into
human society, but their genetic structure is unstable so there can be wild
variations in their physical appearance as a group. Some are almost human
looking while others are distinctly NOT human looking. Seidr are tribal and
live primarily in the forests and wilderness. It is a common belief among
humans that Seidr steal human children and carry the plague. They are tolerated
only because of their abilities and the beautiful crafts and materials they
produce. Primary locations for Seidr are the wilderness areas and the large
tribal center is in Northern California (redwood forest). Seidr abilities
manifest at puberty, usually destructively. Upon manifesting abilities any Seidr
who were produced in either the Squatter or Corporatist societies are either
killed or banished.
