Reuben Bumpus, younger 1/2 brother of Samuel, b. 1858, was counted twice in the 1870 census. On July12 he was livilng with what looks like John Hides. On August 16 he was in the home of John Strough from Henry County Indiana. I believe Samuel Bumpus and John Strough were both 30 years old in 1870 and probably went to school together in Blountsville IN. I dont know who this other man was but his 42 year old wife may have been a Bumpus.
